And so to December, here’s some great news from the last week.
We start this week with a look at the status of a cancer diagnosis and disability.(1) A Survey outlines that approximately 50% of flexible working requests are successful.(2) We have further guidance over whether menopause constitutes a ‘disability’ for employment purposes.(3)
So we move on to a little Case Law. The first relates to a successful claim for discrimination by a B&Q Manager who was experiencing severe pregnancy nausea & vomiting.(4) The second is an unfair dismissal claim where the employee was not given the opportunity to respond to an allegation.(5) A firm of investigators has been allocated to investigate the Thanet Global Generation Church leaders. I’m sure it’ll come to nothing, after all its not like organised religions to abuse power.(6) The TUC highlights that an estimated 647,000 workers get no statutory sick pay.(7) We have an article about the International Day of disabilities.(8) Finally, we have a look at calls for ‘rest centres’ for night shift workers.(9)
